A Study on Self-Disclosure and its Related Factors in Young Adults


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate Self-disclosure and its related factors in young adults.
The subject for his study was composed of 360 young adults who were in high school in Seoul from July 10 to July 20,1988.
To collect necessary data, questionnaire was distributed to the students.
The tool of measurement was Jourard¢¥s Self-Disclosure Questionnaire to measure Selfdisclosure level.
Frequency, t-test and ANOVA were employed to analyze the data collected from those respondents and following results were obtained.
1. The Difference in Self-disclosure among the Topics of Self-Disclosure; there was a significant difference in Self-disclosure among attitude (M=25.21), personality (M=2517), school (M=29.78), taste (M=25.29), money (M=16.57) and body (M=21.88) (F=8.74, P <. 001).
2. The Difference in Self-disclosure among the Subjects of Self-Disclosure; there was a significant difference in Self-disclosure among family (M=55.36), friend (M=61.49), teacher (M=13.82), others (M=13.25), (F=17.05, P <. 001).
3. The Difference in Self-disclosure according to some factors; there was a significant difference in Self-disclosure according to only sex difference (F=-3.08, P <. 01) and religious faith (F=4.34, P <. 01).
These results partially supported the precedented studies on Self-disclosure.
